Changes to Black Paint for Ram Trucks Coming Soon

December 19, 2014

Exterior paint option (PX8) Black Clear Coat has a final production date of January 24, 2015, for all Ram Pickup and Chassis Cab models, Chrysler announced. It will be replaced with (PXR) Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat, which is scheduled to begin production on February 2.

The difference between the two colors is (PX8) is a dark, flat black and (PXR) is a lighter black with metallic flecks, or “pearls”, that give it an iridescent quality.

If (PX8) Black Clear Coat is required, orders should be placed by no later than December 23, 2014. Chrysler generally does not establish hard cutoff dates for paint and equipment options, they only provide a final production date. They estimate that orders should be placed at least 30 days prior to the final production date, which puts the deadline for ordering (PX8) Black Clear Coat at December 23 when factoring in the holiday.
